Operating your sauna
How much water does my ozone sauna use, and how do I refill it?
An ozone sauna draws its steam water from a bottle at the back of the sauna. Refill it with verified distilled water before you switch on. One bottle covers four to eight sessions depending on the temperature you run. Between sessions, also clear the water that collects under the footrest.
Refilling
The water bottle sits at the back of the sauna. Take it out, fill it with verified distilled water and refit it before running a session.
Refill before you switch on, not after: the start-up sequence begins with checking there is water in the bottle, and any water spilt during refilling must be cleaned up before power is applied, especially near the oxygen concentrator and the wiring.
How far a bottle goes
One bottle covers four to eight sessions. The spread is down to temperature: a hotter sauna makes more steam and uses more water. If the level runs low or empty, the sauna sounds a warning and pauses the session, so a busy clinic is better off starting each day with a full bottle and a sealed container of distilled water on the shelf.
The water under the footrest
This is the part owners miss. Condensate and sweat collect under the footrest, and all of it should be cleared between sessions. If it is left, water runs towards the front of the sauna and the sauna stops heating properly.
The fix, if that has already happened:
- Switch the sauna off.
- Take the water bottle out at the back.
- Clean all the water from under the footrest.
- Refit a full water bottle.
- Run a session.
Turnaround
No plumbing is required, so refilling by hand is the whole water routine. In a busy clinic, keeping two bottles and a sealed container of distilled water beside the sauna saves time between clients.
