Servicing, faults and parts

Is it safe to have my ozone sauna serviced or repaired by an outside technician?

Ask us first. Having someone else service or repair your Salvagente ozone sauna does not cancel the warranty, but we do not cover damage that the work causes. We support owners online, our technicians can guide a local electrician through a repair, and the resellers who can assist are listed on our website.

Unsolicited offers to service or repair an ozone sauna turn up regularly, and they are worth treating carefully.

The warranty position

Having the sauna serviced or repaired by someone else does not cancel the warranty. We simply do not cover damage that the work caused. Repair by a person following our instructions is a different matter, which is why it pays to ask us first.

What to do instead

  • Contact us first. We offer comprehensive online support and backup, and most faults are diagnosed that way.
  • Where hands are needed, we will guide them. Our technicians can talk a local electrician through a repair, which keeps the work supervised and following our instructions.
  • Check the reseller list. The resellers who can provide assistance are indicated on our website, so you can verify that whoever is offering to help is someone we know.
  • Check for a spare-parts set. Orders delivered outside South Africa include a complimentary spare-parts set, listed on your invoice, so small repairs need not wait for freight. South African orders do not include the set; we supply warranty parts directly.

The cost consequence when you are out of warranty

If the sauna is already out of warranty and someone else has worked on it, rectification charges may apply when we are subsequently asked to service the unit. Undoing someone else’s work is billable.

The calibration claim

Be cautious of service offers built around “calibrating” the ozone generator in a sauna.

  • A sauna’s ozone generator has no adjustment point to calibrate. Ozone equipment manufacturers we have consulted agree these units cannot be calibrated.
  • Measuring actual ozone output — the mass of ozone produced per hour, which is a different quantity from ozone concentration in parts per million — requires a laboratory-grade analyser costing in the region of R75,000, and such analysers are only practical on machines producing well over 100 grams per hour, not on a 500 mg/h sauna generator.
  • Industry guidance that medical ozone generators be serviced and calibrated every 12 to 18 months applies to a different class of device.

If someone you do not know offers servicing, ask us whether we know them before letting them touch the unit.
