Operating your sauna
What should I do at the end of an ozone sauna session, and in what order do I switch everything off?
Switch the ozone sauna off first, then the oxygen concentrator, then unplug at the wall; the wrong order can damage the sauna. Help the client out, keep them warm and let them rest for about 20 minutes. Then wipe the sauna down, clear the water under the footrest and reset the towels.
The switch-off order
Shutdown is the reverse of start-up: sauna off, then oxygen concentrator, then unplug at the outlet. The ozone generator should never be left running without an oxygen feed.
What is happening to the ozone
The generator stops producing ozone five minutes before the session ends, and ozone’s half-life in the hot, steam-filled sauna is roughly 10 to 20 minutes, so little residue remains by the time the doors open. Open into a ventilated room rather than a closed corridor.
The client comes first
- Keep them warm and sitting or lying down for about 20 minutes.
- Most people prefer not to shower afterwards. We suggest a shower for sensitive skin.
- Marks on the towel are common. Many clients notice residue on a white towel after a session; we treat it as normal rather than a fault.
Then the sauna
- Wipe the sauna down with a clean towel. That is the routine clean between clients.
- Clear all the water from under the footrest, or it runs to the front and the sauna stops heating.
- Check the door bottom rubbers are seated and press back any that were kicked out.
- Refill the water bottle with verified distilled water.
- Reset the towels and ventilate the room.
Every model also has disinfection options, always run with no one inside the sauna. On the Red Light, an automatic ozone disinfection cycle starts with one tap on the screen and runs with no one inside the sauna, between sessions or whenever time allows; the sauna shows a warning for the cycle. Ozone is a recognised disinfectant. Treat it as a feature rather than a substitute for cleaning: sweat and skin oils consume ozone, so the wipe-down stays.
Turnaround
Allow about 15 minutes between clients: 5 minutes for the client to get out and dress, 5 minutes to wipe down and reset the towels, 5 minutes for the next client to undress and get in. The sauna is built to run back-to-back sessions, so preheating is only a factor for the first session of the day.
