Servicing, faults and parts
An alarm is sounding from my ozone sauna. What does it mean?
An alarm from a Salvagente ozone sauna is usually the air flow alarm, which sounds when too little oxygen is passing over the ozone generator. Check the oxygen concentrator is running and the tubing is clear. A low-water warning is different: it pauses the session until you refill the bottle.
First work out which signal you are hearing. There are three, and they mean different things.
The sauna’s air flow alarm
This is the common one. The ozone generator inside the sauna is a corona discharge cell — it makes ozone by passing a high-voltage field through oxygen — and it needs a steady feed from the oxygen concentrator, the machine that separates oxygen out of room air. When too little oxygen passes over the generator, the air flow alarm sounds. It is a protective warning, not a breakdown.
What to check, in order:
- Is the oxygen concentrator switched on and running? The correct start-up order is wall socket on, concentrator on and confirmed running, then the sauna.
- Has the flow been turned down? The feed should be a constant 2 litres per minute.
- Is the tubing between the concentrator and the sauna pinched under a castor, kinked, blocked or pushed off its fitting?
- Has the fitting that holds the ozone pipe inside the sauna been screwed on too tightly? This happens when someone fiddles with it, and it restricts flow.
The low water warning
If the water runs low or empty, the sauna sounds a warning and pauses the session. Switch off, refill the bottle with verified distilled water and start again.
The concentrator’s own alarm
Our oxygen concentrators have their own alarm function, including a purity alarm. If the sound is coming from the concentrator rather than the cabinet, treat it as a concentrator fault rather than a flow setting problem: check its air intake and filters are clean and unobstructed, and that it has space around it to draw room air.
When to call us
If the tubing is clear and the alarm still sounds, or if the concentrator’s purity alarm is the one sounding, stop the session and contact us. Do not open the cabinet to investigate. We can usually diagnose it with you online, and the warranty does not cover damage caused by repair work not done by us or by a person following our instructions.
