Can children or older people use an ozone sauna?
There is no minimum age, upper age limit or child-specific session guidance for our ozone steam saunas, so both children and older clients need a doctor's opinion first. Where a child does use the sauna, constant supervision is required. Heat tolerance, heart conditions and hydration are the cautions that matter most.
Children. No minimum age, shorter session length, lower temperature or reduced ozone level is set for children, so a doctor’s opinion comes first. Supervision is recommended for any client in the sauna and must be constant for a child. The physical set-up is adult-sized as well: seat levels, the neck opening and the door seal are designed around an adult body, and a child’s head position determines whether they breathe ozone.
Older clients. There is no upper age limit either, and the guidance that does apply is directly relevant: any heart condition and recent heart attack or stroke are exclusions, heat raises heart rate, and only people in good health should go above 37 °C. Frailty, unsteadiness getting in and out of a cabinet, medication load and dehydration risk all belong in that conversation with a doctor.
The risk that matters most for both groups is hyperthermia — body temperature rising above its normal range because heat gain outpaces heat loss. Mild, deliberate hyperthermia is what any sauna produces; heat exhaustion and heat stroke are the far end of the same scale, and the warning signs are weakness, nausea, headache, dizziness, clammy skin and confusion. Someone who cannot easily tell you they are too hot is harder to keep on the safe side of that line — which is the practical reason for constant supervision of a child, and for staying within earshot of an older client.
Getting out is simple for anyone. To get out, open the doors and step out. To stop the ozone, switch the sauna off at its wall socket once you’re out.
