Choosing an ozone sauna

How much space does an ozone sauna need, and what does the room have to have?

Our Standard ozone sauna is 1180 mm high, 680 mm wide — 1360 mm with the doors open — and 1200 mm long; the Deluxe is 1400 mm long. We recommend a room of at least 2 m by 2 m, with 3 m by 3 m or larger ideal. No plumbing is required.

Footprint and clearance. Published dimensions are:

  • Standard — 1180 mm H × 680 mm W (1360 mm doors open) × 1200 mm L, 80 kg
  • Deluxe — 1150 mm H × 680 mm W (1360 mm doors open) × 1400 mm L, 100 kg

Dimensions and weight for the Red Light model are on its product page.

Plan for more than the cabinet: the doors need their full swing, the concentrator stands alongside, and someone must reach the controls and help a client in and out. Our recommended minimum room is 2 m by 2 m; 3 m by 3 m or larger is more comfortable to work in. The Standard and Deluxe have four lockable castors. Saunas must be uncrated to fit through a normal doorway, and never tilted onto their sides or backwards when moved.

Power. The sauna and its oxygen concentrator together draw 1750 W, on the applicable plug for your country. Rated 220 V / 10 A. For the 110 V versions (ordered from the international section): Red Light 110 V / 13.5 A; Standard and Deluxe 110 V / 11 A. The oxygen concentrator runs on its own separate socket (300–450 W). A 110 V sauna needs its own dedicated circuit. Before delivery, ask a qualified electrician to confirm that your circuit and socket can carry the sauna’s rated current continuously. A 3 kVA or larger inverter will run both. A generator of that size will too, but we do not recommend running the sauna from one, because the voltage fluctuation is hard on the electronics. Switch on at the wall, then the concentrator, then the sauna.

Ventilation. An open door and a window creating a draught is sufficient, and after nearly twenty years of operating these saunas that remains our position. A wet-airstream ozone destructor is rarely worth the cost: much of the ozone has reverted to oxygen by the end of a session, and moisture in the cabinet converts ozone to hydrogen peroxide. The concentrator needs fresh air to work properly too.

Floor. Choose a level, water-tolerant surface: steam escapes at the door seals and condenses.

Plumbing. None. All models run from a water bottle at the back, filled with verified distilled water.
