Choosing an ozone sauna
What questions should I ask an ozone sauna seller before I pay?
Ask an ozone sauna seller: is the unit manufactured locally or imported; what is the ozone output and at what oxygen flow rate; is a medical oxygen concentrator included; does the user's head stay outside; what warranty applies, for how long, and who honours it; and where do spare parts and servicing come from.
Put the questions in writing, and keep the answers with your quotation.
The machine
- Ozone output, with the oxygen flow rate and the volume any ppm figure refers to. Milligrams per hour is a quantity; parts per million is a concentration, and means nothing until you know the volume it was measured in. Ours: a 500 mg/h generator on a constant 2 l/min feed, giving about 47 ppm across the sauna’s air volume.
- What the ozone is generated from — a concentrator, a cylinder, or ambient air. Air-fed generators pass impurities through. Ours run from a 5 l/min concentrator at 93% ±3% purity.
- What the gas path is made of. Glass, PTFE, silicone and 304/316 stainless steel last in prolonged ozone contact; rubber, latex and nylon do not.
- What any grade claim refers to. A grade adjective means nothing unless the standard behind it is named.
- Whether output is adjustable, and in how many steps. Ours have 10, each stepping the generator by 10%.
- Shell material, user weight limit, external dimensions with doors open, and whether the user’s head stays outside, sealed at the neck.
- Element wattage, voltage, plug type, and whether far infrared is fitted and at what wavelength.
The answers to be wary of: no medical oxygen source, a head-enclosing design, no adjustable output, or no local spare parts or service.
The deal
- The complete itemised packing list, and the total landed cost: does the price include freight, insurance, duties and taxes?
- Lead time, freight method, deposit and cancellation fee.
- Warranty period, scope, and who honours it in your country. Ours is a two-year limited warranty on a new sauna and its oxygen concentrator, for the first owner, in every market.
- The returns policy and its window.
Afterwards
- Who services the unit, are spare parts held in your region, and are consumables plug-and-play?
- What training, manuals and session guidance come with it?
Finally, ask whether the seller manufactures the sauna or resells someone else’s. That changes who is accountable when something fails.
