Operating your sauna
What should I check on my ozone sauna daily, weekly and monthly?
Daily on a Salvagente ozone sauna: a full bottle of distilled water, no spilt water near the oxygen concentrator, ozone confirmed by the glove test, a towel wipe after each client and the footrest water cleared. Weekly: a soap and warm water clean, then 15 minutes of ozone. Monthly: pipes, seals, castors and filters.
Regular scheduled servicing is not required when the sauna is well maintained and kept clean. These checks are that maintenance.
Daily, before the first session
- Water bottle at the back filled with verified distilled water and refitted. One bottle covers four to eight sessions.
- No spilt water anywhere, particularly near the oxygen concentrator or the wiring.
- Oxygen concentrator switched on first and running before the sauna.
- Sauna preheated with the doors closed and nobody inside — 10 to 20 minutes for the first preheat of the day.
- Ozone confirmed present by the glove test: with the concentrator running and the ozone on, hold a latex glove at the ozone outlet for a few seconds and look for a hole. Use the glove, not your nose — ozone is toxic to the lungs and operators become desensitised to the smell.
- On a Red Light model, check the status lights: ready, session complete, attention needed.
Daily, between clients
- Wipe down with a clean towel and reset the towels.
- Clear all the water from under the footrest.
- Check the door rubbers along the bottom are seated.
- Refill the water bottle.
- Shut down in order at day’s end: sauna, concentrator, wall socket. Leave the doors open to dry.
Weekly
- Clean with soap, warm water and a soft cloth, then run ozone for 15 minutes with no one inside.
- Check the oxygen tube along its whole length for kinks, flattening or wear.
- Check the seat adjustment operates on all levels.
Monthly
- Inspect the ozone inlet fitting inside the sauna; firm, but not over-tightened.
- Check the castors roll freely, lock properly and are clear of hair and debris.
- Check the concentrator’s air intake and filters are clean and unobstructed.
For planning
Average lifecycles are more than 3,500 hours for the ozone generator, 15,000 hours for the oxygen concentrator and 30,000 hours for the LEDs on the Red Light model.
Log the checks. A dated sheet beside the sauna turns this into something a stand-in operator can follow.
