Servicing, faults and parts

How often should my ozone sauna be serviced, and what does a service include?

Regular scheduled servicing is not required when a Salvagente ozone sauna is well maintained and kept clean. The daily and weekly owner routine is the maintenance. For anything beyond that, contact us or the reseller who sold you the sauna rather than a general technician.

Our position

There is no fixed service interval. A sauna that is cleaned, run on the correct water and switched on and off in the right order does not need periodic servicing, and the ozone generator is not a device that needs calibration.

For planning and replacement budgeting, the average lifecycles are:

  • Ozone generator: more than 3,500 hours.
  • Oxygen concentrator: 15,000 hours.
  • LEDs (Red Light model): 30,000 hours.

Owner maintenance

  • Wipe the sauna down with a clean towel after every use.
  • Clear all water from under the footrest between sessions.
  • Wash the seat, doors and floor weekly with soap, warm water and a soft cloth, then run ozone for 15 minutes with no one inside.
  • Use only verified distilled water in the steam bottle.
  • Clean the oxygen concentrator’s filters and keep its air intake clear.
  • Follow the start-up and shut-down order every time, and never run the sauna for a prolonged period without the concentrator on.

Scale and water deposits

Using the specified water is the cheapest maintenance you will do. No descaling is required when verified distilled water is used — that is the point of the instruction. Tap, borehole and mineral water carry dissolved solids that stay behind when the water boils off, and if deposits have formed, ask us before you improvise: household descalers, vinegar and acidic cleaners can attack seals, fittings and the fibreglass finish, and cleaning contrary to the care instructions can affect warranty cover.

On calibration

Industry guidance that medical ozone generators be serviced and calibrated every 12 to 18 months applies to a different class of device. A sauna’s ozone generator has no adjustment to calibrate, and measuring its output properly needs a laboratory-grade analyser, so an unsolicited offer to calibrate your sauna is not describing a real service.

The disinfection cycle

On the Red Light, the automatic ozone disinfection cycle, run with no one inside the sauna, is a feature, not a reason to stretch the interval between cleans. The same applies to the disinfection options on every model. Keep the wipe-down between clients regardless.
