Getting started and your first session
What should I do straight after an ozone sauna session?
After an ozone steam sauna session, keep warm and sit or lie down for about 20 minutes. Drink water, stay off cold floors, avoid a large meal, and leave supplements for 1 to 2 hours.
Take the 20 minutes after the session slowly.
- Lie down and keep warm for about 20 minutes. Your body is cooling through vasodilation — the widening of blood vessels in warm skin so the body can shed heat. Blood flow to the surface rises and blood pressure can fall, so stand up slowly after a hot session to avoid feeling light-headed.
- Do not walk straight onto cold tiles. Feet are sensitive; avoid a sudden cold shock. This is not the same as deliberate contrast or cryotherapy.
- Rehydrate. Drink water; we suggest alkaline water.
- No large meal immediately. Give the body a chance to recover first.
- Leave supplements and vitamin C for 1 to 2 hours.
- Medication. If you take any medication, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether to time your session around it. Never skip, delay or move a prescribed dose to fit a session.
- No alcohol for at least 4 hours.
- Do not shower for at least 2 hours.
If the sauna is your own, wipe it down with a clean towel after every use, clear any water from under the footrest, and switch off in the right order: sauna first, then the oxygen concentrator, then unplug at the wall.
