Light and photobiomodulation
Green light (therapeutic)
Therapeutic green light is visible light of roughly 500–570 nanometres. Like blue, it is absorbed close to the skin surface, which is why it is used for surface-level skin concerns.
Also called green LED
Absorbed near the surface, like blue. Haemoglobin absorbs green strongly, so green light acts at the skin surface. Our green light page says the same: green is used for surface-level skin concerns because of its shallow penetration.
The research. Our green light studies page collects the skin research on green light and links on to the sources.
Why it matters here
Green is one of the colours in the Red Light sauna. Like blue, it is absorbed close to the skin surface.
