Safety, contraindications and screening
Does someone need to supervise an ozone sauna session, and what should the client sign first?
You can use the sauna on your own at home, as long as you can get in and out unaided. In a business, a trained person must be present and within call during every client's session, and a child needs constant supervision. Clients should complete a health intake form, and read and sign the outlet's terms, before a first ozone sauna session.
Supervision. You can use the sauna on your own at home, as long as you can get in and out unaided; see using the sauna on your own. In a business, a trained person must be present and within call during every client’s session, and supervision must be constant for a child. Check what your insurer and local law require as well.
Getting out needs no assistance. To get out, open the doors and step out. To stop the ozone, switch the sauna off at its wall socket once you’re out. Your head and arms are outside the sauna throughout.
Paperwork. We supply our sauna clients with client information forms, and theBooking.site is built so that each client reads and signs the terms and is warned of potential contraindications before a session is administered. A usable intake form should capture:
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding and menstruation, asked at every visit rather than once at sign-up.
- Every item on our contraindication list: bleeding and clotting disorders, thrombosis, hyperthyroidism, heart conditions, pacemaker, alcohol dependence. The list of who should not use an ozone sauna is the version to work from.
- Dates of any heart attack, stroke, major surgery or chemotherapy session.
- Implanted devices of any kind.
- All current medication and the time of the last dose.
- Alcohol in the previous eight hours.
- Client weight against the model limit (120 kg Standard, 180 kg Deluxe; the Red Light figure is on its product page).
- A signed acknowledgement of what the session is, and that it is not a medical treatment or a diagnosis.
Training. We provide training, manuals and safety guidance alongside the saunas, with further support through theBooking.site. It is training and support, not an accredited qualification.
Have your form and terms checked by a lawyer in your own market — signed terms do not remove a duty of care, and regulation of ozone therapy differs by country.
