Running a spa or clinic

Does someone have to be present for every ozone sauna session?

Yes. A trained person must be present and within call during every client's session, with constant supervision for a child. Nobody needs hands on the client for the 30 minutes they are in the sauna, so an ozone room adds a service without adding a dedicated member of staff.

Supervision. A trained person must be present and within call during every client’s session, with constant supervision if the client is a child. To get out, the client opens the doors and steps out. The person running the session switches the sauna off at its wall socket. If a client feels unwell, follow the steps on what to do if a client feels unwell.

What still needs a person:

  • Screening before the session. Take a history, check it against who should not use an ozone sauna, and adjust the session accordingly.
  • The correct start-up sequence. Full water bottle, spills cleared, concentrator on and checked, then the sauna. Running the sauna without the concentrator on for a prolonged period will burn out the ozone generator. Shutdown runs in reverse.
  • Being within call during the session. If a client feels uncomfortably hot they tell the operator, who reduces the heat. That assumes someone within reach.
  • Turnaround. Wipe-down after every use, and clearing all water from under the footrest before the next session.
  • A record per client. A written session record — the settings run for that client, and how they change across a course — lets a colleague pick the client up without resetting their progress.

On the Red Light model, status indicator lights signal ready, session complete and attention needed, which helps one person cover the room from outside it. They do not replace the person.

Budget attendance in minutes per session rather than whole sessions. A model that assumes zero labour cost will be wrong.
