Running a spa or clinic
What it costs to add an ozone room to a spa or clinic, and how to make it pay.
Questions (14)
- Does someone have to be present for every ozone sauna session?Yes. A trained person must be present and within call during every client's session, with constant supervision for a child. Nobody needs hands on the client for the 30 minutes they are in the sauna, so an ozone room adds a service without adding a dedicated member of staff.
- How many ozone sauna sessions can one room turn over in a day?A session runs about 30 minutes. The first preheat of the day takes 10 to 20 minutes depending on the room; after that allow roughly five minutes for the client to dress and leave, five to wipe down and reset, and five for the next client to get in. The sauna is built for back-to-back sessions.
- How should I price an ozone sauna session at my spa?Your session price is yours to set. Price the ten-session course as your main product and a single session as a premium trial, set your floor at what the room already earns, put theBooking.site's flat 15% commission inside the price rather than on top, and display prices inclusive of tax.
- What does each ozone sauna session actually cost me to run?Budget for electricity, distilled water, laundry, cleaning materials, staff minutes and booking commission. A sauna and its oxygen concentrator draw 1,750 W together, so a 30-minute session uses under 0.9 kWh at full draw and less in practice. There is no gas cost: the concentrator makes oxygen from room air.
- How do I work out the payback on an ozone sauna?Payback is your capital or rental cost divided by your net margin per session. Take the price from the model's product page, subtract water, electricity, laundry, staff minutes and the flat 15% booking commission from your session price, then divide by the sessions you will realistically run each month.
- What does my spa need in place before it can offer ozone therapy? Before taking bookings you need trained staff, a client intake form, a documented screening and cleaning process, a room of at least 2 m × 2 m with suitable power, and your own insurance. We supply manuals, training videos, and client intake and consent forms; theBooking.site adds signed disclaimers and an audit trail.
- How do I market an ozone room to my existing spa clients?Start with the clients you already have. Our support package includes a listing on our outlets site, pre-designed vouchers, a downloadable marketing image pack and help with online and social marketing. Clients you invite to theBooking.site have your outlet added to their favourites automatically when they register.
- What is theBooking.site, what does it cost, and what does it do for my outlet?theBooking.site is our booking platform and marketplace for spas, salons and clinics. Registration is free and there is no monthly subscription. You pay a flat 15% per booking, with credit-card transaction fees included, and you are paid immediately when the booking is made rather than after the session.
- Does Salvagente have a reseller programme, and who does it suit?Yes. We work through regional resellers, we route enquiries from our product pages to the reseller in your region, and the resellers who can assist are listed on our website. Margins, territories and trade terms are agreed individually. If you are interested in becoming a reseller, contact us through the website.
- Are there trade or wholesale terms for buying more than one ozone sauna?Multi-unit orders are quoted individually, so contact us through the website with the models, the number of units and your market. Business buyers receive our support package and a two-year limited warranty on each new sauna and the oxygen concentrator supplied with it. Orders delivered outside South Africa include a complimentary spare-parts set, listed on your invoice, so small repairs need not wait for freight. South African orders do not include the set; we supply warranty parts directly.
- What business support does Salvagente actually provide to spa and clinic clients? We include a support package with every sauna sold to a spa or clinic: a listing on our outlets site, preferential theBooking.site rates, online and social marketing, vouchers, magazine exposure, access to best practice from our clinic network, and our interactive manuals, operations guide and client intake and consent forms.
- When do I get paid for a booking, and what happens if a client cancels or does not show up?On theBooking.site your client pays when the booking is made rather than after the session, and you are paid immediately, to the payment gateway merchant ID you supply, less a flat 15% commission with card fees included. A client who does not show can either reschedule or forfeit their payment.
- Do I need a medical qualification to charge for ozone sauna sessions at my salon? We do not require a medical qualification to operate our saunas, and we supply every customer with the operating manual and training videos. Our training, manuals and the session guidance we provide through theBooking.site are not an accredited qualification. Whether you may charge for sessions is set by your regulator and professional body, not by us.
- Can clients claim ozone sauna sessions from a medical aid, health insurance or an HSA?No. No ozone sauna session is currently covered by any medical aid, medical scheme, private health insurer, health savings account or flexible spending account, in any market we sell into. Plan on clients paying in cash, and tell them so before they book rather than after.
